I am a woodturner from Taiwan. Although I always look into western techniques to improve my turning, I want the forms and lines in my work to reflect my oriental background. I keep exploring the artifacts around me, and Black Jue was inspired by Chinese bronzeware. I was fascinated by the beauty of the ancient decorative details. I sought to transform those lovely elements into a more simplified design.

 

Bringing the oriental elements into my work is an ongoing theme for a couple of years; it is something I plan to continue.
